5-Ingredient Vegan Chocolate Tart

Incredibly simple to put together, and spoon-licking good. I’m realllllly not a baker…I know it’s good though because it’s already gone! Give it a try for yourself.

What You’ll Need:

The Crust:
105g (about 1/2 C) dates

250g whole grain flour (about 2 C)

*flours can easily be substituted for GF or Manitoba

The Filling:

1 ripe avocado

105g dates

70g walnuts (optional, but great flavor!)

65g 100% cocoa powder

Preparation:

The Crust:

Pit the dates and add them to a food processor with about 150mL water. Make a well in the flour and slowly add the liquified dates until a homogenous, slightly sticky dough forms. Kneed until smooth

*the dates act as both a binding, and sweetening agent so guess what?! NO SUGAR ;)

Let rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.

The Filling:

Follow the same process for the dates as the crust. Blend in the walnuts, avocado, and cocoa powder. Chill for 30 mins.

Roll out the dough for a 9in (23cm) tart tin. Lightly brush the tin with quality olive oil, and evenly line the tin with the dough. It should be pretty thin. Press down the center with parchment if you have it to make sure it’s even. Make little imprints on the bottom of the dough with a fork. Lightly brush again with olive oil. Bake at 160° (320°F) for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool completely. Add the filling, and garnish with fresh walnuts (even toast them if you’re feeling fun!) Buon appetito!
